Corrugated board plant using tapioca starch adhesive in the glue kitchen

Adhesives

Adhesive starch with high tack and fast set

Corrugators and laminators need a glue that grabs quickly and sets before the sheet leaves the machine. Tapioca starch delivers high tack at modest solids, and pregelatinized grades let the glue kitchen work without a cooker at all.

The challenge

What adhesives manufacturers ask us to solve

Slow set at high line speed

Weak green bond causes warp and delamination on the stacker.

Energy and maintenance in the glue kitchen

Cooking equipment adds steam demand and downtime.

Viscosity drift in the mix tank

Glue that thickens through the shift changes application weight.

Questions

Adhesives starch — common questions

Can starch adhesive be prepared without cooking?

Yes. Pregelatinized tapioca starch is already cooked and dried, so it hydrates in cold water and reaches working viscosity in the mix tank.

Is the adhesive suitable for food-contact packaging board?

The starch itself is a food-grade plant material; suitability for the finished pack depends on your full adhesive formulation and local regulation.
